Scholarships and grants
The major highlight of every Girls Rising Music Festival happens midday each year when we have the opportunity to present a Girls Rising Outreach Panel Discussion and introduce all of our Girls Rising Grant and Scholarship winners to attendees. Be sure to get to Morgan Park by 3PM so as not to miss our biggest Scholarship and Grant Ceremony to date. Girls Rising partnered with the following entities to create Grants & Scholarships:
The following scholarships will be awarded to a female or LGBTQ graduating high school senior attending college in the fall of 2022:
Girls Rising Milt Okun Scholarship: $2,500 - WINNER - Kaitlyn Verdugo, Hicksville High School
Girls Rising Sheila Primont Scholarship winner: 2,500 - Sofia Garcia, Glen Cove High School
The following grants will be awarded to any K-12 girl or LGBTQ person, including graduating seniors attending college in 2022, or organization that aligns with the Girls Rising mission to empower and inspire girls and LGBTQ people:
Joan Jett Grant: $1,000 - Janaiya Bethea, Glen Cove High School
Melissa Etheridge Grant: $500 - Meraxis Altamirano, Hempstead High School
Paula Cole Grant: $500 - Zoe Lemos, The New School
Carnie Wilson Grant:$500 - Angela Zabala, Locust Valley High School
Girls Rising Primont-Camps family Grant winners, established in memory of Sheila Primont: Ivy Lian - Calhoun High School & Holly Farnan - Glen Cove High School
McDonalds Castiglione Grant $500 - Tionna Hubbard, Glen Cove High School
